Tailored for Veterans and First Responders, our specialized Valor Program is built to help those on the front lines with substance use recovery. The program, offered exclusively at Footprints to Recovery, provides specialized, trauma-focused care for those with a substance use disorder that developed after military service or because of the constant stress and danger in their position as a first responder.
The evidence-based and holistic treatment options are overseen by our team of professional substance abuse and trauma counselors. You’ll recover in a safe, comfortable atmosphere alongside others who have firsthand knowledge of what you’re going through. You’ll come to understand that trauma and substance abuse are a response to excessive stress. We can help teach you how to manage PTSD symptoms, stop using drugs and alcohol to self-medicate, and adopt healthy coping skills that help you move forward.

The Need For Veterans Rehab Programs
As a nation, we owe a great debt to our veterans who have selflessly served our country. However, it’s no secret that many of these brave men and women struggle with the effects of their service even after they return home. For some, this may include physical injuries or disabilities, but for many others, the scars are invisible and often go unnoticed by those around them.
Addiction and Mental Illness In Veterans
One major issue faced by many veterans is substance abuse and addiction. The transition back to normal life after a tour of military duty is not easy. Studies show that one in every fifteen veterans struggles with substance abuse. More than 76% of veterans also suffer from co-occurring mental health disorders alongside substance abuse.
Due to their experiences in combat, veterans are more likely to develop drug or alcohol dependency as well as mental illness. This can be due to various factors such as coping mechanisms for trauma or PTSD, easy access to prescription medications for pain management, or simply struggling to fit back into civilian life.
Unfortunately, substance abuse can have devastating effects on a veteran’s life, leading to strained relationships, financial problems, and even legal issues. It can also exacerbate underlying mental health conditions such as depression and anxiety.
Due to the stress and trauma that often accompanies military service, veterans have unique treatment needs. That’s why Footprints to Recovery developed the Valor Program which offers trauma-focused, evidence-based treatment for all veterans and first responders.
